Something About Jacob Ellsbury’s Ad in The Boston Globe Rubbed Me the Wrong Way

I don’t know what it is, but this ad just seems so fake to me for some reason. It seems like something he felt like he was obligated to do. Almost like seeing a family member whose company you really do not enjoy. Sure you are going to be polite and throw them a fake smile and hug, but god knows you are not happy about it.

Jacoby, if you really loved this city and wanted to stay in Boston, you would still be in Boston. Mike Napoli signed a less lucrative deal to play in Boston and you know why? Because he loves this city and he loves this game. It’s not just about the amount of zeros on a check to real Boston players. And Jacoby, you are not and never will be a true Boston player. The only “memory” I have of you is you being another greedy Yankee, thats it. So enjoy your new pinstripes, because as far as I am concerned, you are now the enemy.

Oh and as far as the ad goes, in the words of Peyton Manning, “You can shove it where the sun don’t shine”.
